Rollingdale is a family owned farm gate winery located in beautiful West Kelowna, B.C. The land which we farm was originally an orchard with tree fruits; apples, peaches and cherries. The thickness of the trucks of those well over 100 year old trees are testimony to the growth potential of this stunning plot of land. After that, the land laid bare for several years until in 1999, the first vines were planted. The original planting was of Marechal Foch, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc. We first opened our doors in 2004 with our very first vintage. In 2006, more Pinot Blanc was planted along with a small parcel of Merlot along the fence of our property, which annually makes our stunning ‘White Merlot’. In 2007, one acre of Chardonnay was planted on a north facing slope looking up the lake towards Vernon, which allows these grapes to keep their high acidity. Cooler air is denser than warmer air and will drain downhill, keeping these Chardonnay vines warm and dry throughout the Canadian seasons. We have been certified organic since 2007, and will continue to both grow grapes, and make our wine organically. Organic farming and practices are extremely important to us, to ensure we keep the highest standard within the wine community and on our own land.
