Job Duties:
Garneau Manufacturing Inc., an established fabrication company in Morinville, is currently looking for a full-time Structural Steel Fitter. The position is primarily a Monday to Friday day shift position with a focus on keeping our commitment to provide our customers with the quality they deserve.
• Reading blueprints and specifications to determine the materials necessary to lay out work.
• Laying out reference points and patterns according to component specifications.
• Preparing materials prior to assembly.
• Assembling and fitting metal sections and plates to form complete units using tack welding or bolting.
• Grinding, stamping, cutting and/or drilling material.
• Conducting housekeeping and general cleanup.
• Attending daily toolbox meetings.
• Regularly communicating with supervisor and foremen to ensure all non-conformances are reported.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Skills Required:
• Must be familiar with flux core and metal core arc welding.
• Must be able to follow the planning and given instructions.
• Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
• Must have an acute attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met.
• Must have a ‘safety first’ attitude in and out of the shop.
• Must be able to obtain trade certificate if required
Experience Required:
• 3 to 5 years of related experience.
• Experience with Overhead Crane Operation and Basic Rigging is preferred, but not required.
Education Required:
• Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent experience.
Wage & Hours: $ 32.50 /h
• Number of Hours Per Day – 9 hours (Monday through Thursday), 8 hours on Friday
• Number of Days Per Week – 5 days
• Number of Hours Per Week – 44 hours
• Overtime Starts After How Many Hours – 9 hours (Monday through Thursday), 8 hours on Friday
• Shift Rotation – possible night shift.
