2837269 Ontario Inc. O/A Prestige Eye Wear has immediate opening for a Licensed Optician (TEER: 32100) at our location in Mississauga, Ontario.
As a Licensed Optician (TEER: 32100), you will perform some or all of the following duties:
- Obtain specifications for eyeglasses or contact lenses from a prescription written by an optometrist or ophthalmologist, or by examining the client's existing pair.
- Use optical measuring tools to take the necessary measurements, such as the width of the bridge, the precise location of the pupils, and the curvature of the eyes.
- Provide clients with advice on choosing eyeglasses by explaining various goods, such as lens materials, frames, tints, and anti-reflection coatings.
- Specialize in Contact lens fitting and educate patients about several Do’s and Don’ts of Contact lenses.
- Before putting the lenses into the frame, grind, polish, cut, and edge them or have a lab make them.
- Make final adjustments to the client's eyewear.
- Order equipment, merchandise and supplies, stock them and maintain a record.
- May supervise or manage the activities of other opticians or student opticians.
Qqualifications:
- Completion of a two- or three-year college program in ophthalmic dispensing or optical sciences is required.
- Licensing by a regulatory body for opticians is required.
- At least one year experience.
Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time (32 hours/week)
Compensation: $ 34.20/hour
