Type of Position: Permanent, full time

The purpose of this position is to perform basic/complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer owned agricultural equipment. This position directly impacts the branch’s revenue and customer experience – the technician’s efficiency, quality and knowledge are key to our reputation for excellence and our long-term success.

Job Duties:

• Performs basic/complex agricultural equipment diagnostics and determines what repairs are needed, if any.
• Performs basic/complex agricultural equipment repairs as requested by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman.
• Participates in all job-related training and development.
• Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments in a timely manner.
• Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
• Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment.
• Follows all safe work practices and keeps the work area organized.
• Mentors Service Technician Apprentices and junior Service Technicians.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized aftermarket area and act in compliance with all legislation, including Health and Safety laws, Workers Compensation procedures and Employment Standards legislation.

Skills Required:
• Outstanding knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Proven knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of outdoor power equipment / agricultural equipment.
• Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
• Ability to use computer to support diagnostics.
• Customer focus, Efficiency, Quality/Compliance, Teamwork, Initiative, Coach-ability, Excellent problem-solving.
• Communication: Balancing listening and talking, speaking and writing clearly and accurately in plain terms, keeping others informed.
• Able to work indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions and to lift 50-75 pounds.
• Climbing, walking, standing, working overhead +75% of day.
• Ability to obtain Driving License.
• Willingness to undertake John Deere certification and undergo WHMIS.

Experience Required:
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• An asset: journeyperson certification – completion of 4-year Ag Equipment Technician apprenticeship.

Education Required:
• High school completion or equivalent GED.

Wage & Hours: $33.00 / h
• Number of hours per day: 8
• Number of days per week: 5
• Number of hours per week: 40
• Overtime starts after how many hours: 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
• Shift rotation: On call rotation and overtime expected in season.
