Parent’s Helper

Location: Burnaby, BC
Wage: $19.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Start Date: As soon as possible
Work Setting: In our home (on-site only)

We are a private family in Burnaby looking for a dependable and caring Parent’s Helper to support us with the after-school care and routine of our school-aged children. The role is ideal for someone who is attentive, organized, and enjoys engaging with older kids in a calm, structured environment.

This is not a live-in position, but we hope to find someone who will feel at home in our household and take a thoughtful, proactive approach to supporting our family’s daily life.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide attentive supervision and support after school hours
• Help with homework, reading, and quiet study time
• Promote good habits around time management and personal responsibility
• Prepare and serve simple, nutritious snacks and evening meals
• Escort children to and from school, lessons, or other appointments
• Plan calm and age-appropriate activities (e.g., games, crafts, outdoor walks)
• Keep shared spaces tidy and assist with light housekeeping and laundry
• Take initiative and follow established routines when parents are away

Who We’re Looking For:

• A secondary school graduate
• Someone with previous experience working with children (strongly preferred)
• Kind, respectful, and confident when managing older children
• Organized, responsible, and able to work independently in a home setting
• Good communicator who values clear expectations and routine
