Big Sky Milling has an immediate opening for the position of an experienced Purchasing officer (TEER: 12102) for our location in Bowden, Alberta.

As a Purchasing officer (TEER: 12102), you will perform some or all of the following duties:

·         Purchase agricultural commodities, freight and other goods and services;

·         Maintain and develop relationships with key suppliers;

·         Assess lots of pulses and specialty crops for suitability for the facility’s operations;

·         Understand customer quality and other needs and seek out appropriate supply;

·         Invite tenders, consult with suppliers and review quotations;

·           Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts or recommend contract awards;

·         Establish logistics of delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact clients and suppliers to resolve problems;

·         Plan, organize and oversee inbound operational logistics of the organization;

·         Handle returns and rejections;

·         Sell facility produced by-products;

·         Verify supplier invoices for accuracy and approve for payment.

Qualifications:

·         A bachelor's degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce or economics is required;

·         Previous experience as a purchasing clerk or as an administrative clerk may be required;

Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time (40 hours/week)

Compensation:  CA$ 45.68 /hour
