The Accounting firm Manager will report directly to the Partner(s) and be responsible for managing internal financial operations and supporting strategic decisions. Duties include:
Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate internal accounting and financial functions (accounts payable/receivable, payroll, tax remittances, cash flow)
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Evaluate and recommend improvements to financial systems and internal controls
Build financial models and scenario planning for service-line analysis and firm-wide decisions
Support updating and maintaining CPA Quality Assurance Manual, Its compliance requirements and internal documentation related to Quality Assurance Manual.
Collaborate with Partner(s)s to manage cost structures, hiring plans, and tech investments
Develop action plans, provide expertise in response to client needs, and support and advise project teams
Plan, administer and control budgets for client projects and contracts,
Conduct financial due diligence and modeling for mergers/acquisitions as applicable
Supervise and train internal finance/admin staff as applicable
Update and implement performance evaluation processes
Assist staff with administrative or technical problems
Present budgets and financial reports to senior leadership
Education Requirements:
A university degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of financial or accounting management experience
Experience in a CPA or professional services firm strongly preferred
In-depth understanding of Canadian accounting regulations and CPA practice operations
Technical Skills and Software Knowledge:
Experience with the following systems is an asset:
QuickBooks, Xero, Sage
CaseWare, CCH Engagement, TaxCycle, Profile
TPS Time & Billing, Client Track and Practice Management Systems
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Languages: Advanced proficiency in English required for communication with internal teams, partners, and regulators.
Strong analytical and modeling skills
Fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines
Attention to detail, strategic thinking, and advanced problem-solving required
Ability to communicate financial matters clearly to internal teams from admin to Partners
