Job Purpose:
Winding/Rewinding various AC/DC three phase and single phase Electric Motors, Generators and Armatures
Responsibilities
· Perform dismantling, inspection, evaluation, repair, and re-assembling on large utility generators
· Partial or complete rotor and stator rewinds on AC & DC Electrical Rotating equipment up to 6 MW
· Analyzing, interpreting, collecting technical information of incoming machines and reporting technical information such as specifications, drawings, work plans, and other instructions necessary to perform winding / rewinding function
· Train other operators as required by production / operations manager
· Set up and adjustment of electrical equipment and the inspection testing of equipment using electrical testing equipment
· Collect, read and understand winding data and connections using company forms and creation / modification of forms to enhance winding function
· Perform field electrical condition electrical tests offsite/ on-site
· Repair/braze/insulate copper winding/leads as required.
· Serve as a contact between engineering, quality assurance, and site services
· Expedite shop activities and substitute for and/or assist other skilled workers
· Repair Disassemble and assemble electric motor generators, armature, AC DC three phase and single phase from fractional HP
· Up to 3000 HP Mush and form coil Winding also Linear Induction
· Set up and operate required machines and equipment such as Samatic Winding Machine and Coil Jigs
· Inspect completed products for quality and conformance to customer specifications.
· Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment, Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipment, Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts, Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other components, Weld or braze components, Wind, assemble and install various types of coils, Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors, Read and interpret blueprints, Perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other parts, Perform on-site servicing and repair, Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear, Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance.
