Ophthalmic Goods Lens Cutter

Job Description:

OPTIK K & R INC.

 

OPTIK K & R Inc. has an immediate opening for an Ophthalmic Goods Lens Cutter at our location in Scarborough, ON.

 

As an Ophthalmic Goods Lens Cutter, you would be required to perform some or all of the following duties:

 

1. Edging and mounting -

•         Cut Lenses and fit into specs

2. Maintaining good health of the edging/cutting machines and tools:

•         This responsibility encompasses regular maintenance and servicing of edging and cutting machines to keep them in optimal working condition.

•         It involves conducting inspections, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with maintenance personnel or vendors for repairs and upgrades.

3. Training other peers in the department:

•         As part of this duty, the individual is responsible for training new hires and providing ongoing training and guidance to existing team members.

•         This includes educating them on operating procedures, safety protocols, machine use, quality control measures, and troubleshooting techniques.

4. Ensuring quality and precision edging/cutting of lenses:

•         This involves overseeing the entire edging and cutting process to ensure that lenses are accurately shaped and sized according to specifications.

•         It includes monitoring quality control measures, conducting inspections, and implementing corrective actions to maintain high standards of precision and accuracy.

5. Controlling/minimizing losses during the edging process:

•         This duty involves implementing strategies and measures to minimize material wastage and losses during the edging and cutting processes.

•         It includes optimizing cutting patterns, managing inventory effectively, and identifying areas for improvement in workflow efficiency to reduce losses and enhance productivity.

6. Perform  edging and grinding as per specifications using CAD assisted designs

7. Perform blocking  by holding lens which came from lab created with power, so at this stage we do blocking

 

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Completion of secondary school and several months of on-the-job training are usually required for other assisting occupations in this unit group.

·         5 years or more experience is required

 

Terms of employment: Permanent, Full time Night Shift (30-40 hours/week)

Compensation: $ 26.00 - 36.00 /hour (to be negotiated)
