Job Description / Duties
The Retail Sales Supervisor will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of retail sales staff and ensuring excellent customer service in a pet specialty retail environment. Duties include:
- Supervising, coordinating, and scheduling the activities of retail sales associates
- Assigning duties and preparing work schedules
- Authorizing payments, returns, and exchanges
- Resolving customer complaints and concerns professionally
- Maintaining inventory levels, ordering merchandise, and organizing stock
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and loss-prevention procedures
- Training new staff and monitoring ongoing performance
- Preparing reports regarding sales volumes, merchandising, and personnel matters
- Supporting store operations to ensure a clean, organized, and customer-focused retail environment
Job Requirements
Education
- Secondary school diploma or above is required
Experience
- At least 1 year of retail sales experience
- Previous supervisory or lead experience in retail is required
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Customer service–focused mindset
- Ability to supervise staff and handle operational issues
- Basic inventory and sales reporting skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends
