Responsibilities

Tasks

• Provide nursing care to residents in accordance with care plans, physician's orders, and College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Administer medications, treatments, dressings, and monitor residents' health status.
• Assess residents, document observations, and report changes in condition to the Registered Nurse or physician.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Supervise and provide guidance to Personal Support Workers (PSWs) and ensure quality resident care.
• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation and resident records.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Promote resident dignity, independence, safety, and quality of life through resident-centred care.
• Participate in care conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and infection prevention and workplace safety programs.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, professional standards, and organizational policies.

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

• Successful completion of the Regulatory Exam – Practical Nurse (REx-PN™) or formerly Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination
• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• In good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• CPR Certificate
• First Aid Certificate
