Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler, BC is currently looking for Hosts to join our team.

Reports To – Food & Beverage Managers and Supervisors

Position Summary

As one of the first points of contact for our guests, the Host plays an important role in creating a welcoming and memorable dining experience at Nita Lake Lodge. The Host supports the flow and organization of the restaurant by greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, answering guest inquiries, and maintaining an organized and welcoming host area. Through professional, warm, attentive, and efficient service, the Host helps ensure a positive experience from the moment guests arrive until they leave.

Main Job Duties:

· Greet all guests promptly with eye contact, a smile, and a warm and professional welcome.

· Manage guest arrivals, reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists in an organized and efficient manner.

· Seat guests according to the restaurant's seating plan and direction from the Lead Host or Food & Beverage leadership team.

· Provide menus and introduce guests to their Server where appropriate.

· Answer the telephone professionally and provide accurate information regarding dining options, restaurant hours, reservations, and general guest inquiries.

· Assist with taking, updating, and confirming reservations.

· Maintain accurate guest information within OpenTable, including seating preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies, and relevant guest notes.

· Ask guests about dietary requirements or allergies and communicate relevant information to the service team.

· Remain informed of restaurant and Lodge events, promotions, operating hours, and other information that may impact the guest experience.

· Communicate effectively with Servers, Server Assistants, kitchen team members, and Food & Beverage leadership to support smooth restaurant operations.

· Monitor table availability and communicate accurate wait times to guests.

· Assist in maintaining an organized and welcoming entrance and host stand.

· Maintain appropriate par levels and the cleanliness and condition of menus.

· Complete assigned opening, closing, and side duties in accordance with restaurant procedures.

· Maintain cleanliness of designated areas and follow all hygiene and sanitation requirements.

· Assist Servers and Server Assistants with service duties as required to support the overall guest experience.

· Respond professionally to guest questions, concerns, and feedback, escalating complaints or service concerns to a Supervisor or Manager when appropriate.

· Demonstrate a strong understanding of when management assistance is required and communicate guest concerns promptly.

· Maintain professional appearance, personal hygiene, and grooming standards at all times.

· Follow all Nita Lake Lodge policies and procedures, including Health & Safety requirements and emergency procedures.

· Attend required meetings, training sessions, and development opportunities.

· Perform other duties as assigned to support restaurant and Lodge operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

· Completion of secondary school is required.

· A minimum of 6 months of previous restaurant or hospitality experience is required.

· Previous experience with OpenTable or a similar reservation system is an asset.

· Both written and oral English skills are required.

· Strong guest service and interpersonal skills.

· Friendly, professional, and approachable manner.

· Comfortable communicating with a diverse range of guests and colleagues in a sensitive, tactful, and professional manner.

· Ability to remain calm, professional, and organized in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to prioritize multiple guest needs and operational requirements.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Physical Requirements

The Host role requires regular periods of standing and walking throughout the shift and may include:

• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Bending, reaching, and performing repetitive movements.
• Carrying and organizing menus and restaurant supplies.
• Assisting with moving tables and chairs when required.
• Lifting up to 40 lbs (20 kg) when required.

Employment Term: Full-time, Permanent

Language of Work: English

Wage: $19.25 per hour

Work Hours: 32-40 hours per week

Vacation: 4% vacation accrual
