Job Summary:
West-Can Seal Coating is seeking an experienced Construction (Screed) Labourer to join our team specializing in Micro-Surfacing operations. The role involves labouring and operating an M1 continuous paver screed to apply thin layers of Micro-Surfacing to asphalt surfaces for road maintenance and rehabilitation projects. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of experience in the field. A background of environmental studies is an asset, to ensure high-quality and environmentally responsible application of micro-surfacing materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maintain the M1 continuous screed during micro-surfacing operations on various road projects across Western Canada.
- Ensure the consistent and precise application of micro-surfacing materials to achieve optimal surface quality, durability, and safety.
- Collaborate with crew members, supervisors, and project managers to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and environmental guidelines during the operation of equipment and handling of materials.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and troubleshooting on the paver, ensuring it remains in excellent working condition.
- Shovel / Load bags of cement and other materials into hopper (up to 80 LBS each)
- Coordinate with team members to set up and break down equipment and manage the flow of materials on-site.
- Assist in training and mentoring new staff, sharing expertise to help them develop skills in machine operation and micro-surfacing techniques.
- Keep detailed records of daily operations, including equipment performance, materials used, and work completed.
- Provide support in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring materials are available and used efficiently
Qualifications:
- Completion of Secondary School
- At least 1 year of experience working with micro-surfacing and operating related machinery, including screeds in road construction.
- Background in environmental studies, providing an understanding of sustainable practices and compliance with environmental regulations, is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license.
