“OCP Okanagan Coating & Painting Corporation” is specializing in residential and commercial, interior and exterior painting. We also pay special attention to refinishing of cabinetry and fine wood work, as well as to European plasterwork.
Our company is located at 5395 East Vernon Rd, Vernon BC, V1B 3J7, and is currently looking to fill the position of an experienced and qualified Supervisor for our team of painters and related trades, which come with the job. This is a full-time and permanent job.
The main duties of the job consist of:
Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of our team of workers engaged in professional painting, plastering, wood finishing and drywall repair.
Determine quantities of materials required, controls inventory and order supplies.
In some cases, training of unexperienced employees is expected, as well as train workers on duties, procedures and safety.
Resolve internal problems and job-related problems with customers.
Establish work schedules and coordinate with other trades and contractors, if needed.
Report progress to management and recommend methods to improve productivity.
Recommend hirings and terminations of employees which are not qualified.
We are a painting company and the candidate shall also be able to handle and train specific painting duties:
Preparing and cleaning surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls; and sandpaper and apply sealer;
Mixing and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture;
Applying paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes, rollers or spray equipment;
Measuring, cutting and apply wallpaper or fabric to walls; Assembling and erecting scaffolding and swing stages;
The person may advise customers on selection of colour schemes, methods and may provide cost estimates to clients.
All of the above will apply to refinishing projects of cabinetry, fine wood work (graining, marbleizing, staining, glazing) and European plaster work which are also important areas of our operation.
Since we are highly specialized and provide top notch quality, we expect the completion of a 3- or 4-year apprenticeship and certificate in that trade and at least 3 years of related work experience as well as the possession of Driver’s License.
The language at work is English (written and oral).
