Fort William Curling Club Kitchen is seeking an experienced Cook to prepare and cook high-quality Asian cuisine dishes, maintain kitchen operations, and support daily menu preparation. The successful candidate will contribute to menu planning, inventory management, and maintaining a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of Asian and Canadian dishes according to established recipes and menu requirements
- Plan menus and prepare daily lunch and dinner specials in coordination with management
- Develop new recipes and dishes to enhance the restaurant’s menu offerings
- Determine appropriate portion sizes and estimate food requirements for meal preparation
- Inspect kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness and proper food safety practices
- Maintain high standards of food preparation, presentation, and quality control
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering food supplies and ingredients
- Check incoming deliveries to ensure correct quantity and quality of ingredients
- Coordinate kitchen activities with other cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service
- Supervise and provide training to cook helpers and kitchen assistants when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Perform other related duties as required
Employment Requirements
- Completion of secondary school
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a cook, preferably in Asian cuisine
- Experience preparing high-volume meals (e.g., meals for 40 or more customers) is an asset
- Cook trade certification is considered an asset but not mandatory
- Strong knowledge of Asian cooking techniques such as stir-frying, wok cooking, and sauce preparation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and maintain consistent food quality
- Strong organizational, time-management, and teamwork skills
- Ability to supervise kitchen helpers and coordinate kitchen operations
