Job Description:

Hi-Tek Drywall & Acoustics was founded in 1986 with over 40 years of history leading the construction sub-trade industry in regular and structural steel studs framing, drywall, insultation, plastering, acoustical ceilings and systems, and interior/exterior stucco systems for commercial, institutional, industrial and multi-unit residential projects. Since inception, Hi-Tek’s family-run business in London, Ontario has been premier in drywall, steel stud and stucco (EIFS) and we have revitalized stucco for the future.

We are looking for a qualified purchaser to join us. The person will be reporting to the purchasing manager and be responsible for managing general purchasing activities, supplier coordination, and material sourcing to support ongoing construction project operations. The successful candidate will ensure cost-effective procurement, timely delivery of materials, and compliance with company purchasing policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Purchase construction materials, equipment, and supplies in accordance with project needs
  • Review purchase requisitions and determine appropriate sourcing strategies
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, contracts, and procurement documentation
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve supply or logistics issues
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory logs, and supplier databases
  • Analyze market trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities
  • Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and accounting staff to ensure procurement aligns with budgets and timelines
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
  • Perform other purchasing and administrative duties as required

 

Qualifications: 

  • Completion of college diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in construction or industrial sectors
  • Proven experience working within a construction company environment, with a strong understanding of project-based procurement needs
  • Familiarity with construction materials, equipment sourcing, subcontractor supply processes, and standard construction purchasing procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and purchasing/inventory software systems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

 Terms of employment: Full time, 30 hours/week, 52 weeks/year
