We are seeking a talented and passionate Indian Chef to join our team at an Indian-Canadian Bar and Restaurant in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time position with immigration support available for eligible candidates. If you have a deep understanding of Indian cuisine, a creative flair for culinary artistry, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes, following traditional recipes and techniques, while also incorporating innovative flavors and presentations.
  • Create menus that showcase the diverse range of Indian cuisine, featuring both classic and contemporary dishes.
  • Ensure the quality, taste, and consistency of all food items served in the restaurant.
  • Manage and oversee the kitchen operations, including food preparation, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety in accordance with industry regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the restaurant management team to develop and implement new food concepts, seasonal menus, and special promotions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and culinary advancements, incorporating them into menu development and kitchen operations as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and address any customer queries or concerns regarding the food.
  • Monitor and manage food costs, portion control, and waste reduction strategies to optimize profitability.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Indian Chef, specializing in Indian cuisine.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian culinary techniques, spices, and ingredients.
  • Ability to create and execute menus that cater to diverse palates and dietary preferences.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality food.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Eligible for immigration support (if applicable).
  • A passion for Indian cuisine and a desire to share it with others.
