Silverspine Contracting Inc. is hiring a full-time tilesetter

·        Location:              Multiple locations throughout Lower Mainland, BC

·        Term:                    Full time, Permanent, 40 hours/week

·        Salary:                  $30.00 – $31.00 per hour

·        Overtime rate:      $39.00 - $40.30 per hour

·        Vacation:             4% of vacation pay

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·        Set tiles in position and apply pressure to affix tiles to base

·        Prepare, measure and mark surface to be covered

·        Pack grout into joints between tiles and remove excess grout

·        Install tile strips

·        Lay and set mosaic tiles to create decorative wall, mural and floor designs

·        Mix, lay and polish terra surfaces

·        Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles

·        Align and straighten tile using levels, squares, and straightedges

·        Cut and fit tiles around obstacles and openings using hand and power cutting tools

·        Lay tiles in evenly spread mortar, ensuring precision, clean edges and straight lines

·        Remove existing floor coverings, take measurements and clean and level the surfaces where the tiles are to be laid

·        Mix, apply and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue or other adhesives using hand trowel

·        May prepare cost estimates and orders

·        May need to lift heavy materials and tools

Job Requirements for the position are:

·        Completion of secondary school

·        3+ years of work experience in trade field and/or similar occupation

·        Be detail oriented in planning and laying tiles on floors

·        Physically fit to be able to lift heavy materials and tools
