Responsibilities
Tasks
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Layout and mark formwork locations according to plans
• Build and install formwork for suspended slabs
• Construct and install formwork for columns and beams
• Assemble and erect wall formwork systems (shear and retaining walls)
• Install formwork for footings, foundations, and sidewalks
• Use modular formwork systems (Doka, Peri, National, etc.)
• Ensure formwork is level, plumb, and aligned to specifications
• Install bracing, supports, walers, and ties
• Set up shoring and scaffolding systems
• Install embeds, block-outs, sleeves, and inserts
• Prepare and clean forms before concrete placement
• Assist with concrete pours and monitor formwork stability
• Strip and remove formwork after concrete curing
• Repair and maintain formwork materials and systems
• Operate hand and power tools safely
• Work at heights using proper fall protection
• Follow safety procedures and site regulations
• Coordinate with crew members and other trades
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
