Sideros Ironworks LTD. is seeking Senior Tekla Steel Detailer:

·         Position: Senior Structural Steel Drafter - Detailer

·         Working conditions: Permanent, F/T (40 hrs /week)

·         Salary & Benefits: $36.75 + 4% of vacation pay + Health benefits for medical and dental

·         Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·          Interpretation of design drawings and specifications for detailing Structural & Miscellaneous steel.

·          3D Modeling and production of required drawings (i.e. Erection, Assembly, Single Part) using Tekla Software.

·          Design drawing analysis to identify missing or conflicting information and create RFI’s if necessary.

·          Interpretation of design sketches and calcs from Connection Engineer and apply into the model.

·          Modeling of Structural Steel including connection required (i.e. Anchor Bolts, Embeds, Columns, Beams, Vertical Braces, Joists, Canopies, Parapets etc.)

·          Modeling of Misc. Steel including connection required (i.e. Stairs, Handrails, Elevator Divider/Hoist beams, Operable/Rollup Door supports, Gratings, Architectural Frames etc.)

·          Preparation and checking of Erection, Assembly & single parts drawings to ensure complete information is provided for fabrication and erection.

·          Create Approval for submittal to the Consultants & Fabrication Packages for Shop.

·          Review of Return approval comments and make follow up inquiries if necessary.

·          Creating of Site Dimension drawings for Survey & Importing of (CSV) files from the Surveyor into Tekla model.

·          Perform Site visit and do site measurements if required by the project.

·          Perform document control and update of drawing files into the system.

Job Requirements 

·          Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.

·          Minimum 5 years experience in Structural & Misc. Steel Detailing (Modeling & Checking).

·          Proficient in reading and interpretation of Structural & Architectural design drawings.

·          Proficient in using Tekla V19.1 & 2021 and familiar with connection components & macros.

·          Proficient in modeling connections and all aspects of drawing annotation and dimensioning requirements.

·          Familiar with CWB & AWS welding symbols and the use of CISC & AISC Steel manual.

·          Knowledge in BC Building codes, VBBL, CISC, CWB, AISC, AWS standards for Structural & Misc. Steel.

·          Knowledge of using Bluebeam, Excel and Word is a must.

·          Knowledge of creating custom TEKLA templates and reports is an advantage.

·          Knowledge of Structural Design or a CISC Connection Design Certificate is a plus.
