Aburi Market Ltd., a premium Japanese gourmet market in West Vancouver. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will bring authentic sushi preparation techniques, creativity, and strong leadership skills to ensure exceptional quality and consistency in every dish. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled sushi professional to contribute to a growing brand known for its innovation, artistry, and dedication to traditional Japanese cuisine.
Expertise and experience with Japanese cuisine is a key component of this role since you will be training, supervising, and mentoring cooks and kitchen staff.
This job is not suitable for individuals who have never worked as Chef.

Wage: $37/Hour
Hours: 30 to 33 hours/week

Education:
· Other trades certificate or diploma
· Culinary arts/chef training
Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.

Tasks:
· Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
· Estimate labour costs
· Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
· Analyze operating costs and other data
· Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
· Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
· Create new recipes
· Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
· Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
· Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff
· Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
· Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
· Requisition food and kitchen supplies
· Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
· Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities of several restaurants
· Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
· Recruit and hire staff
· Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
· Leading/instructing individuals
· Inspect kitchen and food service areas
