Mi Pho Song Vu Inc. o/a Toronto Pho is seeking a full-time, experienced Chef to lead kitchen operations and oversee the preparation of authentic Vietnamese cuisine in our Toronto location.
Job Duties
The Chef will be responsible for the following core duties:
- Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes, with a focus on Vietnamese cuisine
- Develop, plan, and update menus; determine food portion sizes and presentation standards
- Estimate food requirements, control costs, and monitor kitchen budgets
- Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficiency, food quality, and consistency
- Supervise, train, and schedule kitchen staff and helpers
- Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and compliance with health and safety regulations
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas to maintain cleanliness and operational standards
- Order food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment; maintain accurate inventory records
- Recruit, train, and participate in hiring kitchen staff as required
- Maintain records of food costs, inventory, and staff performance
- Ensure consistent execution of recipes and quality standards during all service periods
Terms of Employment
- Wage:$30.00 to $36.00 per hour
- Hours: 30–40 hours per week
- Schedule: Morning and evening shifts
- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Start Date: As soon as possible
Skills Requirements
- Language: English required; Vietnamese is an asset but not mandatory
- Education: No formal education requirement
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial cooking or as a chef
- Proven experience preparing Vietnamese cuisine is strongly preferred
- Experience supervising kitchen staff and managing kitchen operations is an asset
